I was looking through a journal that is about 6 years old and was surprised by what I found. There was a point in my life where I was inspired to become a member of management by my current employer at that time.
So in my journal I started to summarize several of the leadership books I had read and came up with 10 points of focus. So I thought why not share them with the world. Who knows they might work for somebody. I sure as heck didn’t get that job. 🙂
Leadership in 10 points
1. Listen before speaking.
2. Give more than expected.
3. Quickly overcome disappointments.
4. Inspire, don’t ridicule.
5. Don’t be afraid to go against the crowd.
6. Stay calm in difficult situations.
7. Do even the smallest job flawlessly.
8. Delegate responsibility.
9. Lead by example.
10. Burnout (job) leads to accidents. Take a vacation.
After reading through this list I now understand why I didn’t get this job. This list has almost nothing to do with management. The good news is I wrote down the name of the books and I’m going to find the authors and demand my money back with interest.
So I am in desperate need of your help. I need a tip that would make me a great leader. Any ideas?
