I don’t think I can express in words how strongly I feel about the power and benefits of serving. Each and every post that I have written this week has revealed my passion about serving and has even encouraged me to change my life forever. I refuse to continue living the rest of my life being selfish and inconsiderate of others. If the world doesn’t change it won’t be because I didn’t try to make a difference.
With that in mind during the week I have made some observations of what I think are the needs of the people in my community. I focused on their concerns, their fears, and their shortcomings. Using this information I have come up with a plan on how I will become a servant and I have a few tips for you as well.
So, how can you become a servant? Who do you serve?
#1 Share your talents
Each and every one of us as a unique gift. There is something that we are naturally good at. Rather it be writing, sports, or cooking you should share it with someone. Teach a class. Coach a team. Write a inspiring blog post.
#2 Sacrifce your time
You can make a difference in someone’s life just by being available. Spend some time talking, listening or playing games with someone.
#3 Invest in the local community
Visit some of those family owned business in your areas and get to know the people who run them. If you want to change the community first get to know the people who have been a part of it. They also can give you some tips on where the help is needed.
#4 Clean Up
Volunteering is an easy way to get involved in your community growth and development. Take some time out and clean up your local park or any area where people frequent.
These are just a few tips to get you started if you were looking for some ideas. There are countless things you can do to be a servant. All I am asking you to consider is to do something.
