I Can’t Stop Now

by Frank

Stop right there.

Do you know where you are?

I am not talking about your physical location or your geological position on a map. I am talking about your life. Are you where you want to be? Are your surroundings what you imagined they would be? Do you want more?

In my last post I talked about being stuck somewhere in between potential and promise, that place between where you started and your ultimate destination. Well I don’t know if you are anything like me but I started my journey with an overflowing tank of gas and a map that directed me right to where I wanted to be. Everything looked so promising.

THE BEGINNING

As I sat behind the wheel of my automobile staring through the windshield the world never looked so clear. The sunshine brought forth such a refreshing feeling of hope as it reflected off of the mirrors and warmed my face with its touch. The evening landscape was full of the red, orange and white lights of the city. The scenery was breath taking.

I HOPE YOU HAVE AAA

man changing a tireThen life happened. My map was overtaken by the same breeze that soothed my hot skin and now I am lost. The full tank I started my trip with was down to the last few drops.  Lose rocks covered the terrain and it began to get rough. Potholes emerged on the road I traveled on and as I veered to avoid chaos, calamity and strife I ended up being consumed one by them. (It doesn’t take a lot to get you off track.) Not only did I have body damage but I also ended up with two flat tires.

So, there I sat defeated, stuck on the side of the road, on the rough side of town, with two flat tires and a body that had been abused and bruised. This is that place I was talking about.

THE DECISION

I had a choice to make. I could get up, weak from the beating life just gave me, and start my long walk back to the beginning or I could grab a wrench and put on my spare tires.

For some odd reason people think their life journey is going to be traveled on newly paved roads, through the brightly lit city streets, where there is no concern for their safety. The truth is life can get down right ugly. It can break you down and leave you stranded.

The amazing thing is no matter where you are you have the choice to either keep moving forward or go back to where you started.

THE SPARK

I will tell you this much. I have come wayyyy to far to turn back. I can’t stop now. I know things may seem rough maybe even impossible. You may feel weak. You may feel defeated. You might even want to give up. The stress of the situations you take on is showing on your face. Your “body” is damaged and you feel like you are driving on flats.

I’ve been there, more than once and I promise you at this pivotal point in your life that the decision you make will stay with you forever.

I know you can do it.

I refuse to let you turn back now. What do you think?

Are you ready to get back on the road?

You CAN’T stop NOW! (Is that a tow truck?)
