Make Yourself Indispensable

by Frank

I am telling you, no matter how high up you get in social status, there is always someone whose attention you try your hardest to obtain. Maybe it is your supervisor, pastor, spouse, best friend, God, or even a complete stranger that you want to impress. So yeah, what’s your point you maybe wondering.

Often I do things with a motive in mind. I complete a project on the job because I want a promotion or some type of recognition for a job well done. I want to be considered faithful and loyal to our church so I try to make it to every service. I buy expensive gifts for my wife usually expecting a gift just as nice in return. 🙂

All I want is attention. I want someone to know that I am doing a good job. I want someone to know that I am dedicated to the goals I have set for myself. I want someone to remember my name. Maybe that’s just me.

But, what if anything, makes you any different than anyone else?

I have come to a conclusion. The only way to make a difference in the world we live in, the only way to do something of significance is to take a chance and make yourself INDISPENSABLE. Be indispensable in the relationships you have. Be indispensable to your employer, church, friends, even a complete stranger.

How, you ask?

You have to offer the world something no one else ever has. You have to have the guts to go completely away for the norm and do something that people will remember and respect.

One way to stand out in a crowd is when everyone else is sitting down, stand up. 🙂 I bet everyone will start to look at you at some point.

* When its guys night out and your wife, girlfriend, significant other had a bad day, stay home.
* If everyone else dresses casual at work, dress up.
* If all your friends do is complain and whine, encourage them.

The whole purpose of this post is to encourage us find a way to stand out and do something different. Be a person that others not only like having around, but be seen as someone they wouldn’t be able to make it without.

Do you have any friends like that now?

Be indispensable.
